skunk stage 1 cams vs. ITR or CTR cams (yes i did a search)
obviously the skunks stage1 cams will outperform any of the R cams....
'00+ ITR AND CTR cams are the same you can pick em up for like 300 bucks for both
Skunks for like 600+
Skunks1 are still really good for street and better for strip than R cams but its up to how much money your willing to spend.....
If i had the money def...Skunks1
Do a search theres a gazillion amounts of info on this!!!

The skunk2 stage 1s are similar to the CTR in lift(slightly higher), they're moderately longer duration. Although they'll almost certainly outperform the CTR cams, they're also more costly. My reasoning is if you're going to swap out the cams, then make it worthwhile. The stage 2 & stage 3 cams are somewhat more, and you need stronger springs & retainers, but I think it a more worthwhile venture.
I'd watch eBay. Allot of people buy CTR intake and ITR/CTR exhaust cams, install them a very short while, then decide they want more power than they'll get from them.

Skunk2's are expensive.....My friend was trying to talk me into stage 2's. But I'd need the retainers and springs. I had planned on Just ITR, SK2 Cams Gears, and a vafc.
Do Skunks cooperate w/ obd 2 and our 4400 and 5600 x-over and secondary runners ? Or do we have to change that w/ the vafc ?
Anyone want to buy a NOS GSR plate system, still in the box brand new? I'll let it go for $500. I think they go for around $600. I'll even throw in the cold plugs I bought.

Yep Skunk2 cams are expensive. If you get the CTR/ITR cams though and decide you want more aggressive cams later, you may well regret not doing it right the first time.
What does OBDII have to do with the crossover point, or the secondary runners?
If you get any of these cams(including CTR/ITR) I think you'd benefit from a Vafc or Hondata system.

I wasn't asking it as a whole question ( obd II and x-over and secondary ).
I may just end up getting skunk2 (1)'s, vafc, and sk2 gears.
I'm asking will you have to change the vtec x-over as you would w/ itr/ctr ?.

You won't HAVE to, but I bet it gets boggy from about 4.4 to 5.2k if you don't. Looks like Skunk2 did with the dyno on their site. They don't provide much info though.
will you lose any power from either of these cams skunk2 [stage 1], ITR, or CTR if you keep the stock redline of a GSR?
or is it best to raise the redline to get more power from the cams?

i ran the ctr cams and was not that impressed so i sold them and went with the skunks and they definately are better.. i make 6 more horse at the wheels over the ctr cam set up.. right now my car is hitting 179whp and 126ftlbs with a very mild setup.. skunks

if you have the money for stage 2 or 3's would you get them EVEN in a mild setup
just like bolt-ons or is there a disadvantage to getting stage 2 or 3's???

Disadvanteges are, smog, changing springs & retainers to accomodate the higher lift, & a less pleasant idle most of the time.
I'd go stage 2 or 3. I don't live in CA though. No smog testing in MI yet.

These Skunk2 cams keep on making power passed the Factory redline, so it would be better if you did raise it to get even more power.
Skunk2 Stage 1 cams are Smog legal and they work perfectly fine with your stock valvetrain... but if you DO raise your redline, you would need Valvesprings and retainers to keep your Valves in place when you're reving high...

stage 2 and 3 would only be worthwhile if you had the compression to make them work
Running the Skunk2 Stage 2's. Idle is the same as it was with CTR cams-fine. The non-vtec lobes are a little bigger than the CTR's. One thing noticeable with the bigger cams is more valvetrain noise-but in my opinion, more power is worth a little noise.
