Bastard motor. Here is a start..

Just buy a new long block instead of wasting money on a motor with no potential.

The cost of rebuilding it will be MORE than finding a good used motor.

factor in the costs of the following:

Pistons
Rings
Connecting rod bearings
Connecting rod bushings
Valve seats and seals (if needed)
Head Gasket
Main seal
Crank seal
Water Pump
Timing Belt Tensioner
Timing Belt
Senders
Intake and exhaust gaskets
other incidentals..

And then the costs of magnafluxing, boring and honing block. Crank machined for new bearings. Installing seats and guides in the head.

The costs do add up. You can do it, depending on your mechanical aptitude.
