95 Prelude Speedo Incorrect
Hey, I've had this 95 prelude for over 7 years and its always read about 5mph high on the speedometer. This is as checked with a GPS, other cars, police speed signs etc. Its pretty consistent at abt 5mph high at 60-70mph and gets progressively worse the faster you go. It has stock sized wheels/tires on it. Is there any adjustment in the cluster to account for this? Anything I can do to fix it (don't say larger wheels)? Anyone else have this problem?
Thanks

What engine and tranny do you have in there? I have an f23 VSS in my JDM H22 trans right now and its off considerably. Your VSS may have been changed at some point in time to a VSS from a different trans.
h23 with m2s4 manual. I got the car from a little old lady as an automatic that babied it and it was wrong then. Then I did a 5spd swap and it was still wrong. Is it the mechanical or electrical part of the vss that sets the speed? I was under the impression that the mech. part is specific to the trans ie won't engage the teeth in the trans if its wrong, I guess not, huh.
Well I looped my p/s lines from the stock vss and bolted in the f23 one that doesnt use the p/s lines. Any H or F vss will function but the the way it reads the rpms and sends the signal is a will vary. I honestly dont know what else factors into the speedo readings. If anything I'd say try to swap in a different gauge cluster and see if you have the same problem
