1990 Integra ls swap recommendations
Hey guys, I'm new to the site and a noob to Honda swaps. I did a quick search but to no avail. I recently blew a headgasket on my b18a. Rather than get it fixed I've decided to do a swap a little early. I was thinking about a b18c(Gsr) or an ls/vtec setup. My question is, which swap would be more cost effective and easier to do? If at all possible. The car is a 90 and I am not sure how easy it would be to just drop in either of these.
It really depends on what you can find and what you are going for. LS/vtec motors have alot tourqe and high end horsepower because of the longer rod stroke. But to use the top end power of the vtec you have to beef up the bottom end. B18c is already able to handle it all but one will run you a little more then just a head would and it take some custom fab. Im not sure how easy it would be to drop in a b18c but im thinking your integra is odb0 and the b18c is obd1 or obd2. but you would have to do this conversion even with an ls/vtec. Either way would be a good move but it will take work time and patience...and of course money lol. If you decide to do either or even if you stay with the stock b18a a GSR tranny would defiantly help unleash some of the power that your motor is making. LS trannys are geared a little long. Hope this helps, just do some research about wat your getting into before you decide.
Thanks for the input. I was also thinking about taking the b18a and getting it cleaned up and machined?.. I would like to do a whole swap sometime in the near future, but currently I need my car and would be willing to wait. Would I need anything for the Gsr tranny or is it a direct match up? Also any other recomendations if I do take it to a shop?
