Default car died today

my car died today when i was at a light. It shut off on me. When tried to turn the car over it would just crank (sounds like its almost oging to turn over). The weird part is when my friend banged on my dizzy it started right up. Iv heard of your start sticking but not your dizzy. I jus changed spark plugs, cap, rotor, and fuel filter. Its been about a year since i changed my dizzy from kragen. Can my dizzy go bad within a year?

Did you look inside? Anything look out of place? It could be the spade connectors for wiring... to sensors, coil, etc.

well it could not be getting spark cause your coil pack, also inside your dizzy is a ICM [ignition control module] that can shut your car off then after afew it will turn back on, i would say just notice how long it takes till it shuts off again, if the times keep getting shorter and shorter id say it was your icm, but the best hting to do is, check for codes on your ECU

no codes are popping up, i have lifetime warranty on my dizzy so im going to swap it and see if it still shuts off.

I had similar problems related to my distributor. No code, inconsistent startups, and eventually the whole thing got pretty crazy (tachometer bounced peg to peg... etc). I got a donor diz and just replaced one sensor at a time. In my case the coil had somehow managed to fry itself but recently I had to replace one of the other sensors as well. Id just go through piece by piece until it is fixed. Good luck finding a cheap donor that still has good parts.

EDIT: I'm jealous you have a warranty... as you can see from my experience I did not and those things are a pain in the *** to track down sometimes. Let us know if it works out for you.

my car will do the same thing...loves to do it when im pulling onto the highway or if im in a bad spot in town after its been running a while. usually only does it maybe once a day at most. sometimes goes days without doing it at all. after it stalls ill wait a few mins and it takes right off. i also have a slight miss sometimes when im high in the RPMs....sound like dizzy problems guys?
