Default Need Help Deciding with Turbo Prelude- H23vtec or H22/F22

Hello all,
Im planning on turboing my 98 Prelude and have everything to go boost. Now this is the fun part, I know this is all over HT but i want to now from recent builder and turner what they recomend. Im trying to decide which of the following setups would be best for boost:

Built Bottom- Rods,Pistons,Race Bearing or OEM, ARP everything

#1-Bottom Built F22 with stock H22 head

#2- Bottom Built H23 with stock H22 head

#3- Bottom built/Sleeved H23 with stock H22 Head (I know anything sleeved is the win but it takes a while to do cash+turn around)

&

Which tranny

#1- F22 tranny

#2- F22/LSD

#3- H22/LSD

#4- Or Bseries

Once again im all ready for boost but need which setup to go with, or what would you recomend.

I have 2 JDM H22A's and three Trannys with one LSD
Im also getting a deal on a Sleeved Block but dont know what all is need to go H22 head and H23 block but can research just need your opinions. Thanks guys

f22/ wh22 head and f22 w/lsd. longer gears more boost friendly plus better mpg. I say f22 so you can run forged piston if you ever wanted to run better pistons. that way you avoid dealing with the limited pistons available for the frm blocks. additional bonus is that the block is fairly cheap and i believed is tapped to have VTEC oil feed.

All depends on how much power you are looking to make. What turbo size are you looking at and what are your power goals?

#3- Bottom built/Sleeved H23 with stock H22 Head (I know anything sleeved is the win but it takes a while to do cash+turn around)

Doing everything right the first time will save you time, money, hassle down the line.

For the tranny, I would recommend using an H23 tranny w/LSD if available, next on my list is a H22 tranny w/LSD. The F22 is just toooooo loooooooooooonnnnnnngggggg, even for boost.
Also I would not get a factory LSD for turbo power. Get an aftermarket quality LSD, something about open vs closed differential you should research before you decide this.

I have a sleeved h22 (same thing as h23), stock head, h22 tranny w/aftermarket LSD, and no complaints.

Trying to hit 300 at least but anything that will get me in the high 11s is my main goal. I have a garret 60 trim, Tial 38mm WG, Tial BOV(still waiting for spring), 2.5 piping, med size FMIC, RC 750s, Hondata s300, walbro 255, and 3'' straight pipe.

I just talked to Eric at Mazworx Racing Engines in Florida and he gave me a good price on a sleeved H22A but i still havent made up my mind.

I might just sell one of my running H22A's to cover the cost of sleeves ????? Why not right????

Main Goals:
300+ hp
Anywhere in the 11's
Street/Track Racing

300hp can be made on a stock motor, although reaching 11's will need a lot more than that.

What turbo manifold are you using? stay away from any log manifold and get something with a merged collector.

If you're looking at track and times you will need a good suspension, mounts, track bar setup and tires/slicks also.

And also keep in mind the more hp you make the stronger clutch you will need so make sure you plan accordingly.

I'd go with the f22 block since it already has non-frm sleeves in the block. The f22 and h23 cranks are the same if i'm not mistaken.

And depending on how much power u were wanting to go for....the f22 trans may be too long... but...an h22 trans may be too short and spin right thru 1st and 2nd....

h23 would be the perfect intermediate. f22 as he and i have already mentioned so you can run forged pistons. If you can get a price quote on a f22 resleeve just compare it to the cost of the h22.
