GSR 80mph at 3500k RPMS!?
Hey guys just getting worried here, I recently put a GSR swap in my del Sol. Only difference is I am using a chipped P28 and also using my stock Single Cam cluster if that reads correctly? my GSR trans VIN says DC2 also on it...should I be worrying? The mechanic told me it was a GSR trans but it feels like a LS cause 3rd takes a very long time to hit 8K. Any help if it's normal or theres something wrong?

Ya if your at 3500 at 80 then you have an LS trans. My buddy's GSR sat at 4k when doing 80 so unless you both have jacked up gauge clusters then you need to get your money back.
Lets not rule out the possibility of having a gsr trans with an ls fifth gear. Its not to uncommon for people to do that now a days since a gsr fifth puts you at near 4k or over cruising on the highway.

I don't believe my mechanic threw on a LS 5th gear. He told me it was a full GSR swap besides he kept my P28 and chipped it. I read that if the VIN says DC2 then its a GSR?

Just looked this morning, and my gsr is doing 80mph at 4000 rpm. Now since you swapped it in a del sol, i think, maybe, the shape of the car (front area for drag coefficient) and the weight (friction of tire on the road) could affect the speed you are doing for a specific rpm.

My GSR tranny in my 94 civic VX( light *** car) runs between 3500-4000 RPM's at 80mph. If I am on a level surface and maintaining 80 mph (hardly any load on throttle) than it is closer to 3500'ish rpm's. If I have more of a load on my throttle going up and down hills it is closer to 4,000 rpms. At 4,000 rpm's I am running close to 85mph.
I am also running on 205/50/15 dunlop z1 star specs and I am told those run a little larger than the typical 205/50's.

<--b20b Gsr Tranny - I travel at 80 mph in 5th gear at 4000.
I have to owned a LS tranny let me tell you. IT SUCKS, yea its more easy to drive less noise, but if your like me and want to feel the torque of my 2.0 stick with a GSR

I love how someone posted that the aero of the car could make it look like it's doing 80mph at 3500rpm, then someone posted that the tiresize would be the only way to change the speed at certian rpm
Then failed to realize that the speedo is calibrated for a certian tire size. You could put 30 inch tall tires and it would still say 80mph at 3500 rpm, but you'd be going closer to 90mph in reality!
necroing threads is fun
