Can a 98 Prelude type S tranny work in a civic swap? There is no intermediate shaft, instead there is some sort of gear box there with solenoids on it? When u take it off it leaves a whole twice the size of the axle spline. Do I have to buy a differnent tranny. Also, I heard Accord tranny's have shorter gears is that true or not? Would an Accord tranny be good to use?

Please let me know if I can use it or not and if I neead to get a differnet tranny????

 

The Type S tranny uses ATTS. Unless you have many thousands of dollars to blow, you won't be able to get the ATTS to work properly in your civic. Look for a base model manual tranny.

Not lookin to spend that much money. I can get an obd1 accord tranny cheap I think from like a 1994 for around $200, how would it be on the h22???

 

For the shortest gearing get the H22 (92+ Prelude VTEC tranny. The Accord (F22) tranny has much longer gearing. Great for turbo or nitrous.

The H23 (92-97 Prelude Si) is somewhere in the middle.

I plan on getting a H23 tranny for my Accord. I'd get the H22 but i wouldn't like cruising on the highway at 5000+ rpm.

 

h22 tranny is not that bad.

there is never a time i am 'cruising' on the highway at 5000+ rpm. If i was there, i'd be going over 100 mph

as for the 98 Type S (if you are talking about the JDM, they utilize the LSD) and the Type SH utilizes the ATTS system.

Jump on the LSD if you can, stay away from the ATTS as it will not help you in performance. Regular H22, H23 trannies will work just fine.
