looking to buy a acura tl
I want to buy a used acura tl but i noticed the 04 and 05 are faster and have more horse power then the 06 07. i rather have the 05 acura because its faster and cheaper. is there anything wrong with the 04 and 05 acuras that they fixed in the 06 and 07 acuras?
There were some very minor fixes and tweaks, read the wikipedia pages it summarizes it very well. The major thing was the transmission issues. A lot of the 2004 models had an issue with clutch plates wearing out. This was mostly corrected in 2005. If you get a 2004 that is okay and under a 100k mile i would highly recommend you switch your atf to redline racing. If you are going to get a 2004 pm me and i will give you more info.
Good luck with your car search you won't be dissapointed they are a great car. Also for more information visit acurazine.com i am loyal to h-t but there are very few tl drivers on here just about everyone is on az
do you know why when i looked up the 0 to 60 times for the 04 and the 05 acura are a whole sec faster then the 06 and 07?
I work for a place that supplies honda with parts for all there cars the one thing i learned was to never buy the first year of a new model change for any car. so i probley be getting a 05 with around 100k there in my price range. thanks for the info

I am not sure where you got your 0-60 times, probably 0-60times.com or whatever that website is. I would not trust that website. I have no idea where they get their times from. But the more reputable sites have them all within .2 seconds from year to year with an automatic base model (about 7 seconds). They are essentially all the same you won't notice a difference unless you get a type s.
If I were you I would get the 2005 like you mentioned. The only really noticeable change was stitching in the seats and a passenger airbag cut off switch that was added from the 2004 model. In 2006 they added tire pressure monitoring system, which I wouldn't even want since those get so costly. Then in 2007 the main noticeable change was mirror lights and tail lights along with a slightly modified interior, these changes all do look considerably better. They also added the type s option with added performance and the type s body kit, which over all does look better than the previous a spec kit however i think the front bumper is a little much. I like the a spec lip more. 2008 had almost no noticeable changes. As a side note most would agree the 2007 tail lights make the car look better, if you agree you can buy oem quality for $130 for the set and for $160 you can get some with no red which is what I have. I think they make the car look much better.
All in all I think your choice of 2005 is a good one. Make sure you get one with navigation you will regret it down the road if you don't, and if you end up wanting navigation later it is way to expensive to get the factory unit installed. There are quite a few things besides just navigation that the tech package offers it is definitely worth the extra $500 you may spend in the used car market.

i just typed 0-60 times and looked at the first 2 web sites that came up and they both said the same thing. thats kind of disappointing my frind has a 94 vette and the 0-60 times were really close. i wanted 2 make a few mods and beat him in a race so i could laugh at him. but if the acura is 7sec that would cost me 2 much money 2 make it beat my friend vette. what web site do u go 2 for looking up 0-60 times
i also agree got to have the nav system i wont even consider the car unless it has nav

when i was looking up the mpg. i noticed the horsepower was 270 and i thought that was a lot. then i thought it would be nice if i could beat my friends 94vette in a race. because i had a 2000 ws6 transam that was faster then his vette but had to sell it because i had 2 kids and he has not let me forget it.

i just bought a 05 6 speed with navi. love everything about it. the bluetooth units go bad, and 3rd gear has synchro problems, but otherwise theyre bulletproof. buy one.
I have a 2006 and I love it. It's a factory 6-speed A-spec model too which is pretty rare. I have had no problems with my BT module or my 3rd gear syncro, but I have heard that before. My BT does not work with my new BlackBerry 9650 though
