grinding noise in '99
Hello, I have a 99 Honda accord... Today on the way to work, my gear slipped into reverse. (My button was jammed which meant of course, it shifted easy) It's an automatic. I have had this happen in previous cars, and it never had this reaction!
The problem is, I was going 65 and it grinded really bad until I put it back into drive. It wasn't in reverse for that long. When I got off the exit, my car jerked really bad when I pressed the gas. I stopped at the gas station, and when I started it back up to reverse it, it made a horrible noise and wouldn't move. It also did the same thing in drive. I had to push it to a spot and leave it. I know it is beyond my control, so I am towing it. I'd just like to have an idea of what the issue is and what price I am looking at.

How do you accidentally put your car into reverse MULTIPLE TIMES? I've been driving for 17 years, and it's never happened.
Anyway, sounds like you're looking at a new transmission. Figure $2000 for a starting point.
