Need a bit of help with my B17a1 swap into 79 civic
Wasnt exactly sure where to post this, but...
Here's the deal... I bought a 91 CRX that already had a B17a1/YS1 transmission installed, but not hooked up. It was only dropped into the car and motor mounted. None of the wires or hoses connected. This is my donor car. Everything will be moved over to a 79 CVCC.
Question 1: Can I go ahead and use the wiring harness out of the CRX for this swap?
Questions 2: The CRX did not come with the GSR ECU.. which ECU do I need to buy? Well, I know which to buy, but what is recommended?
Question 3: I have the CRX, GSR and CVCC axles.. will any of these work for me? Which would I be using?
Question 4: The CVCC is a Hondamatic.. Would I be able to move over the clutch pedal, shift linkage, shifter, clutch cable over to the CVCC from the CRX donor car?
I work at a Locomotive repair facility and have access to just about anything needed to do a full restoration and swap including a sand blasting booth/paint booth/high end welders/ full fabrication shop etc..
Basically, the fabrication is not a concern.
If you have the answers I'm looking for, please let me know.
Sorry for all the questions, and thanks in advance!

i think it's safe to assume that none of this will be easy or direct.
get in touch with a specialist like The Driveshaft Shop to have some custom axles made. i've seen guys successfully cut and weld axles for temporary use to get the project rolling. but, i wouldn't put much faith in that.
do some research to see what the common wiring procedure is for a B17->CRX swap. then transplant the complete chassis harness from the CRX and go from there.
i suppose you'll need a half-sized radiator from a 92-00 civic to get the exhaust to fit. start planning/brainstorming for that.
the pedal assembly i'm guessing would need to be a custom fabrication and install deal. you'll just need to hold it in there and see what needs to happen...
you've also got to integrate an electric fuel pump into the system somewhere; either a universal in the tank or in-line under the chassis. i'd vote for the later.
if you can get all of your ducks in a row this will be a very nice car to drive! i'm looking forward to this build.

Thanks so much. I looked at one website and custom making axles just seems ridiculously expensive, but Ill check on some other sites as well.
Checking what is needed with the B17 wiring to fit into the CRX then moving it all over should work just fine.
Any more ideas would be great!

I saw something similar to this not too far back. I'll try and find it and post it!
I win.

Check out that. Exact same year and everything. Different motor, but close enough.
