Default Suggested coilovers?

Hello Honda-tech! Totally a new member here. I would like to know with everybody out there that has full coilover suspensions about how you like what you have and the overall feel if it.

What would be the best full coilover system for my car? I drive a 1996 civic sedan. I am honestly looking for comfort and durability while still retaining that mean-looking stance.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I have Ksport full coilovers on my car and love them. have had them since 2007 and havent had one problem with them yet. The feel of the coilovers for me are pretty stiff as I have them set that way. You can choose how you want them.

Look at Koni/gc. It's better then most of the "full coilovers" out there.

Under 800, you can pick up function and form type 2's. They have dampering and are a decent "budget" full coilover setup. Im currently running type1's for daily driving that i picked up for 530 new, and theyre great. Not TOO stiff, and not TOO soft.

But if your willing to spend 8-900, you can get the koni yellow/ground control with tophats. They seem to outperform alot of full coilover setups currently on the market with the choices of custom spring rates, dampering adjustability, and lifetime warranty . Also you can forget, you can get pretty dam low on those babys

Please don't buy ksport of function form. Over the years I've seen too many posts of leaking shocks or broken damaged ksports. Function/form haven't had any structural issues, just leaking shocks. Ksports/D2 have had broken shock rods, etc from pretty normal use.

Under $800 is perfect for Koni/GC, get rates that suit your use for the car and you also get a lifetime warranty and height adjustability.

If you're afraid to spend $800 on one of the most widely used and widely acclaimed suspension setups buy koni srt and a ground controls or get progress CS-II. Either of those will run you about $500-600 and will get you a modest drop and solid handling. I wouldn't slam either setup.

I've seen several posts over the years where shocks were leaking when they arrived new from the dealer, and others where they were leaking after a few weeks/months of use.

Ksport and D2 have had numerous applications for hondas, 240's, etc that have snapped the shock rod*, broken shock tower mount, stripped threads, etc.

*that's even with the "extra thick" shock rod that they say is to increased safety and durability. Only company I've ever seen use a thicker shock rod. Can't believe it is even capable of breaking.

Wow. Totally gotta be careful now. Sounds like Koni/GC is the way to go. Does anybody here know exact pricing?

How about under 600 or at least 600? From that price what's a good coilover?

So many choices! I feeling more on the Progress side. Can anybody give some input on those and how they feel and the cons of it?

Do a search in this forum. Plenty of opinions in many threads.

Goals for the car? Which spring rates would you use?

I can't stand these generalized questions. Like the "feel" of a coilover setup.

D: Sorry I didn't mean to be too generalized. Looking for the street tuner type coilovers that progress offers. Leaning more on the side of ride quality.

Probably just painted them a different color and called them redesigned.

I've seen pictures where they leaked, and they were brand new in the box, never even made it to the car.

Mostly street but you race from time to time?

450-550 Front and 350-450 rear. Get a 22mm rear swaybar if you don't have one.

As far as I know they haven't done any re-tooling of their design, but they do offer Eibach ERS springs with the kits and you can pick your own rates(type 2.5). I still wouldn't run them on my car due to the shock warranty and the amount I would have to pay for type 2.5's.

*Edit* looks like it was type 2.5 not type 2's
