To OP:
You can never underestimate D series. The people that love to talk smack about hondas "D" engine are just ignorant
so dont listen to them.Look into your options. Like N'viouzEF9 said above, you can go with the d16z6turbo route which is a really good set up and fairly cheap. Those engines are perfect to turbo.
Or you can go with a b series engine, but its a little more expensive depending on what you do. you can do a stock ls or crv swap, but its gonna be slower than a single cam v turbo.
In the end, you have alot of options, and research is the key.

P.S. Dont buy engines from craigslist. Ya there are honest people out there, but its hard to find those people nowadays.

Goin cheap isnt gonna get you far. I would highly recommend HmotorsOnline. Prices are kinda up there, but their engines are amazing quality. Picked up my 2000 b20b from there for my DA and steve hooked it up with a clean engine. Under the VC looked brand new.

Its all these ignorant kids running around with hondas nowadays with their colorful towhooks, millions of freakin visors on their cars, etc... Talk about the new "ricer" age lmao. "Vtec all the way, b series all the way" If only they knew lol.
Dear lord.......good luck. I have a feeling this is going to be alot more work than you're thinking. I doubt this one will actually get back on the road, but more power to you if you get it that far.
someone elses wiring on a civic or crx is one thing I would never wanna mess with. looks like they did a hack job too. you def have a lot of de-ricing to do. mad respect if you turn this into a presentable car
Nice project... What are your power goals? A d series is cheap but it going to limit your power. B series really isnt that much more. Best place to get interior parts and a engine swap would be craigslist as you can find them locally and no pay shipping cost. Ebay is good too, but your going to pay more usually. Like in the previous post above I would de rice it. The dual exhaust and the front bumper would have to go. Crxs are a good start tho, I owned 3 before getting my ef project.
I do have alot of work to do on the car for sure. Aguy that i know around here will sell me a b16 vtec motor/tranny/ecu for $700 or $800. Also another guy would sell me a b16 vtec motor for $375 but it doesnt have a valve cover. Ive been looking for parts around where i live locally but nobody owns a crx hardly or they dont have any parts they wanna sell.
