Had same problem on my 96. Replacing the distributer cap and rotor fixed it. If you have done that already it could be a bad fuel injector. I have 4runner that would get random misfires on cylinder bank 1. Problem would come and go. I replaced all ignition components, fuel filter and still had the problem. Replaced the fuel injectors and now it runs like new again. Good luck.

i run 93 from shell same gas i ran in my 07 si with no problems. I did a compression test and the cyl with the misfire has low compression. im thinking it could be a bad valve. i have an extra complete head that im gonna have sent out to get decked and hot tanked then im gonna check the valves in it and install new valve seals and swap the head out hopefully that takes care of it. i have already replaced all ignition components and tried diffrent injectors off a friends car still the same problem.

I had a similar problem... It ended up being the distributor.
