Grease on a ED with no Clear Coat
So my car has pretty much no clear coat anymore which sucks but hey im working on getting it painted. My question is has anyone ever got grease stains on there fenders or doors? How do i get it off? Ive tried degreasers and hard engine degreasers and brake cleaner... Anything that for sure works? Mods this is a Ef specific question since most newer hondas have their clear coat and stuff comes off easier with a clear coat. So please don't move this question.
if you don't want to damage whatever paint is on there, try rubbing some Permatex hand cleaner on there. then use a blue scotch brite pad, and wipe it with a clean microfiber towel. rubbing alcohol is another good choice. if you're going to paint the car, i would just wait and sand it with 1000 grit.
i have the same issue going on with a spot on my car. i have yet to find something that will take it off. i'm afraid the more i work on it that it will just make it worse
yeah ill try the permatex or alcohol thing.... i would wait until i paint it but thats not going to be before Import Alliance and i kinda want to make it look presentable there.
Paint it black! Always works...lol I personally would try a little fine steel wool if scotchbrite & water doesn't work, or there's always the sanding option, but i would go with a super high grit, and always wet. I've used 1000 grit with soft water with outstanding results on all kinds of finishes, my fav being satin, key for me on greasy/oily stuff is to grab a micro fiber towel, or any clean rag really, and wipe after every few seconds of wet sanding, it'll help remove the grease you work out without smearing it all over. And you'll know where you are more effectively, no matter what grit it is, you can still go through if you're not careful, the rag wipe helps ensure you don't. I've been sanding before and not realized i went through the paint cause all the dust/pasty buildup.

Ok so I had some rubbing alcohol laying around and was like i got 5 minute let me see how this is going to work so i used the alcohol and BAM like magic it worked.... Genius who ever came up with rubbing alcohol. I think i might wash my whole car in the stuff.
If it is single stage paint a good trick I've learned is commet dish powder the "non scratch" formula.
I do this to my white wagon all the time.
But since it has clear will not work.
