95 civic smokes... when hittin vtec it sputter
Ok so I notice something today. While driving home from work, when I came up to the stop light and I left the car in gear, until when i came to a stop. Once I stop I notice some smoke that came by my drivers window. It smiled like oil, but wasnt for sure so I get home and there was no oil leaking from the engine(from what I could see). So that only leaves the exhaust pipe. When I took off didn't see no smoke only when I was coming to a stop, an after I stop you can see it and smile Like oil. I have a 95 civic with 98 b18cR eng.
2. I just changed my cams with blox type b's and I noticed when I'm taking off 1-2 gear no sputter in vtec, but if I down shift from 5-3 it takes a minute for it to clear up in vtec but does. what do you guys/gals think is up. Thinking bout putting stock cams back in..

you know I just got done looking up some info and this has came up, but do you think it would be the bottom end like my rings. But it started after I did the cam swap.
really I think it has something to do with my cams, cause once I changed them it started doing this, so now I'm going back to stock, but thx for all the info
If you just changed to a more aggressive cam it may be the valve seals, thay may have been on the way out before and the new cams may have just put the nail in the coffin.
cam seals... if it burns oil while you slowing down in gear, it's cam seals or vavle guilds. did you change your valve guides when you did your cam swap? did you replace your cam seals? if you answer no to either of these my guess is that's your problem. cam seals most likely wont leak enough oil to throw off your vtec, where as a bad enough valve guide and it could. I'm being vague a little, but if it started after your cam swap, whoever did it most likely messed it up. and for future reference, when putting in new cams, make sure we check over the whole head, not just do half the job.
