usdm ITR aftermarket suspension/LCA questions
2001 USDM ITR
- completely stock suspension
- im looking replace with Function Form Type 1 coilovers and some aftermarket LCAs (not sure on brand yet)
Would it be wise to order non type R coilovers and utilize non type r LCAs, because of the difference with rear type r LCAs?
I can never get an exact picture of the Type 1 setup for a type R, does it utilize stock LCA's or do you HAVE to upgrade to aftermarket?

If you're upgrading, why not do it better? The coilovers you're looking at are kinda pieces of crap. $629 for a complete coilover setup? Yeah, those shocks are going to be pretty sh!tty. You get what you pay for, period.
If that's your pricerange, you'd be better off keeping the OEM springs and installing a set of Koni yellows.
If you want to spend a bit more, Ground Control/Koni yellow is the best bang for the buck, and it has the ability to grow with what you what to do.

So your telling me gc koni yellow combo ***** on function form type 1's?
I was gonna do ground controls with stock struts for now and then upgrade struts and lcas together

How many miles on OEM shocks (if over 60k, then they are worn out anyways)? If anything, buy Koni yellows first, then the GC's later. OEM springs + Koni Yellows on the low perch setting is a fine handling car. Again, I'd take this setup any day of the week over the $629 coilovers you were looking at.

I'll agree with the GC/Konis. A $600 full coilover is probably going to be put in the trash about a year later. I have experience with GC/Konis. They ride really nice and you can get spring rates to change the handling how you want.
Don't buy GCs for the stock struts thinking that you'll be able to swap them onto your Konis, however. The Koni GC collars are totally different and GC won't sell you just the collars. I tried.
