Default opening CR-X hatch, broken latch cable and key won't work? how to?

Ok, so basically I have two CR-X parts cars to start stripping today. Both cars have broken hatch release cables, the hatches won't open that way, and the keys won't work in the cylinder for the latch either. One is damaged and the other one I just don't have a key for anyhow.

Any suggestions? I'm trying not to break any of the plastic interior panels in the back.

Have you tried following the cables to the back and pulling it open with pliers that way? You could also bore out the lock as a last resort. Have you pulled the interior to try to open it up?

keep tryin the key sand down the points a little. it should eventually open. honda keys are notorious for opening many different cars.

I managed to lift up the back panel which the latch is hidden behind, I pulled it up a bit to get my hand in to pull on the cable and it popped open, mission accomplished. On the downside though I think the latch needs some work, it's not latching and closing which I don't mind at this point. It's a parts car so far, but I'm tempted to fix since I have enough parts at my disposal...

The lock cylinder looks wrote off on one car, not sure what happened but I think they jammed something in there, I was thinking about trying different keys since I have a few kicking around but I haven't gotten to the other car yet, keeping my fingers crossed I can open that one the same way I did for the other.
