Car: 92 accord lx automatic 290k miles new head runs great. Not sure the liter of the motor. single cam
Issue: Wont start, no dash lights come on at all when the key is on. turns over. and if i give it gas while turning over it will tach to 3k rpms then just die immediatley.
Background: Under the hood i notice that my cold air intake filter was off. from a battery that was too big, tipped back. (stock air pipe just removed the air box and added the cold air intake filter to the pipe with my own connector (campbells soup can)). Im thinking maybe some debris maybe got sucked up into the intake as i was in the mud in the hills 2 days ago. the car has ran fine and just didnt start this morning. I am at work and have not troubleshooted this yet. maybe a fuse blew, or a dirty map sensor, does it have one? Not sure any ideas on what to check when i get home? i will check the fuses, replace the battery and take the pipe off and look for any noticable debris. any other suggestions?

 

Start with the basics - Be sure the cables are connected to the battery and are not loose.

 

Connection is solid and tight. It starts strong like it should no hesitation it just only stays on for a second then just dies.

 

Your description of the symptom sounds like a faulty ignition switch.

 

Cool thanks. I got home last night and jiggled my key around and got the dash lights up. It was a faulty switch
