Icon6 Crx Hf Build

91 crx hf. Bought the shell as a project to help pass time.

Sorry for the terrible pictures, they were taken with my pos phone.

Pictures from the seller:

It was missing most of the suspension parts, drive train, and the interior was taken off and tossed inside. I got it for a killer deal of $200 and a case of beer as payment for borrowing a trailer haha. Very minimal rust. Body was a little beat up but im going to school right now for body work so it works out. It was rattle canned black everywhere... engine bay, interior and exterior... even the wheel wells. The guy I bought it from started sanding it down and shaving the bay. When I got it I sprayed some rattle can primer on the bare metal spots to help prevent rust from starting.

Got it back to my dads garage and it sat there for a few months until things got worked out.

(i resized all of the images but they arent showing up that way)

Looks like a good start. You should turbo it. What kinda of motor are you going to run?

Nice man. Thats gotta fun. The main thing im concerned about is tuning. I dont know anyone in my area thats into it. Did it cost you an arm and a leg if you dont mind me asking?

yea it expensive , but making any car fast isnt cheap. Right now i got 300 dollars in my tune and its still needs more dyno time i for my vtec. Thats just labor tho, you'll have to get all the hardware to tune first. Hondata or Crome what ever you use that can be tuned by someone with a dyno and knowledge of using the tuning programs. I m using Crome which is cheaper hardware to use then hondata. Google Xenocron there a good tuner and chipping service. Check them out.

In the meantime i was working on the fenders, bumpers, and all that at school.

OEM fenders

After I sanded about 4 coats of paint off the front bumper. I took it all the way down because there were tons of cracks in the paint. This bumper came with the car. Im trying to keep all of the exterior panels OEM for better fitment. It was cut for an intercooler so I dont have to do that in the future.

Adhesion promoter...

Primer before I sanded it to get all the nibs out...

Rear bumper from the yellow car. Its OEM as well. y49 paint underneath and a oem primer/sealer. Was in pretty good shape. Some spider cracks and a few chips.

Only big problem was a crack at the bottom. I did the whole plastic bumper repair thing. Stinky stuff.

It came out a lot more smooth because I didnt sand it all the way down.

Pretty clean OEM glass headlights. Im eventually going to sand and repaint the metal housing.

Front upper and rear lower strut bars. Chances are ill sand them down and repaint them.

Fronts done. Megan racing springs and some kyb struts. Both of these came with the car which was pretty sweet. 1.75" drop.

Rear disc swap. Drilled rotors, no name springs and some old tokico blues. Ill put the megan springs on when it gets down to school. Also have the blues for the front. Might be swapping those out.

Rollable...

Exhaust mounted

Got the si wiring installed in the bay and the firewall. I think i will leave the interior wiring from the hf in unless there some big difference? Got the a6 in for the time being and its all wired up and running. threw code 1 and 20. 1 for the 02 sensor im guessing because I had the exhaust open after the manifold. 20 for electrical load. im hoping its just because I didnt have an alternator on.

Donor da integra. picked it up for $500. pulled the swap and sold the shell.

B18a1 swap waiting to go in. The integra was being drove home and then started smoking and lost all of its power. I didnt have a chance to do a compression test before i pulled the motor so that will end up screwing me. Im hoping its just a headgasket. Just in case i picked up another b18a head from the guy that sold me the crx shell for real cheap. Oil was leaking in between the head and the block. Im going to dig more into it this weekend tho.

Honda tech probly doesnt want to hear this but I was fortunate enough to find a n/a 2jz locally, and my friends friend sold me the twin turbo set up and the forged rods and pistons for cheap. So im considering borrowing one of the turbos in the meantime for this project.

My plan for this car is a summer daily. b18a turbo. I am piecing together the a/c setup so i am going to try to retain that as well. Im not going for big numbers just a reliable ls turbo set up. I have a clean si interior waiting to go in that was pulled from the y49. If all goes well I will be painting it the original frost white and painting the side mirrors and door handles to match. Painting the trim black. Eventually shaving/tucking the bay and painting it frost white. Im thinking about ls mesh wheels painted 24k gold from planet color and a polished lip. 24k gold valve cover, strut bars and control arms. I have oem crx front mud flaps and im going to order rears pretty quick. Amber corner and bumper lights.Yellow fogs.. probly not oem because they are an incredible amount of money. J's racing replica urethane front lip. No tint because cops love these crxs for some reason.

Thats where I am now I will have more updated within the next few weeks because I only get to work on it on the weekends.
