Help! Pitching distorting after installing FM-induced CD-changer.
After installation of a Sony CD-Changer (The one that utilize FM) on to the stock sound systems of a 00' 3.2 TL. I can hear this vague pitchy noise when music is "idle"...it's not noticeable, but once it comes you will know it's there and annoys the hell outta me. It will stop immediately after turning off the changer and go into FM mode.
Is there anyway to get this distortion out?

I had the same problem on the last Sony changer I installed. Never got around to fixing it. Check that you didn't pinch the RCAs. You could also try a filter at the modulator. Audiovox sells one that works good with mobile video installs. Might also be a bad modulator.
On a sidenote, why did you pick a RF unit over a direct connect Alpine? Did you already have the Sony or get a good deal on it?

Not really, just that the trapezoid non-standard sized TL headunit can't be replace by conventional aftermarket units. I'll end up spending much more! Does direct connection units need space to mount? Or they are as small as the RF modules?
The goal here is just that I can hear my burn cds in my car which my TL stock unit won't read at all! I am not trying to improve sound quality.
I'll look into your suggestion. Thanks, please post more info/thoughts.
And also, TL's FM reception is from the car body, not from an antenna, if that makes a difference....

check to make sure that your rca's arent running right next to ur power wire or anypower wires (remote is ok). run the remote and rca's down one side of the car and the power and memory down the other side(9/10 times this is the problem). you can get a alpine cdchanger that plugs directly into the din cable adapter on the back of your stock head unit or u can go to an audio store and get an din adapter cable. Fm modulated changers
i would return it if I were you and get the dedicated changer(alpine). plus then u only have to connect one wire (the din cable).
the noise is called alternator whine because it comes from your electrical system (your alternator mainly) it is always present it is just that when you put in a fmchanger or amp it can amplify the sound greatly if not installed right.

great info...too bad I didn't install it myself. I guess I'll print it out and have the Circuit City guys look at it.
Which are models of Alpine are you talking about?
Any site that can teach me how to rip open consoles?

If you are downloading music get the AInet Alpine changer, model #CHAS634. This changer will work off your stock deck (if it has changer controls) with two adapters. These adapters (KCA-130B and HONALPDMXV1) will run you around $75 dollars or so. You can now run MP3s through your stock deck, with no modulation or noise. Only thing you won't get is the disc naming and individual folders. Small price to pay to maintain a stock appearance and function at a fraction of the cost of Acura prices.
Ok, I found some great deals on the Alpine AI-Net 634 on Ebay.
The big question is, how can I be sure that this unit can fit right into the dins of my fatory 00' TL head units? Will the cable be provided? If not, where can I obtain the below two mentioned cables?

Both cables can be had at any larger electronics store, i.e Circuit City or Tweeter. Best Buy doesn't carry Alpine.
So these are universal codes with the adpaters...I see, thanks for helping.
Hopefully, everything will go smoothly.
