My car started running funny the other day and it running horrible now.

Started off feeling like tire was off balance that morning on way to work. At lunch sounded and felt like my cat was backed up and couldn't rev over 3.5 k and had too speed of about 60. Only time cel came on was Omw to buddies house when I made it rev to 5k to avoid getting hit. After cat turned off cel never came back on. t was the same today took cat off and replaced with test pipe no change. On my way home from buddys house it got worse car ran and had even less acceleration and 40mph. Stooped by autozone To see if they could read the cel (lady in broussard location said she could day before but cel hadn't appeared then) guy in Abbeville basically says your screwed bring it to a shop. Go to leave there have even less power I can push car faster than it was running and could barely make 20mph thankfully I'm a few min from home.

Any ideas? Plugs look decent about 6k miles on then wires aren't that old. Car doesn't smoke or anything just can smell gas a bit when I rev in neutral it revs freely but you can tell something isn't right.

Anyone help?

 

check O2 sensor and timing

You can just unplug the O2 sensor and check whether the problem goes away.

Also inspect the distributor cap and rotor. Testing the coil and igniter unit might also be a good idea.

 

the general idea is the distributor, fuel filter, or jumped timing...going to check them tonight after work...and here comes the rain...no carport/garge FTL

 

plugs, wires, complete distributor, and fuel filter changed...issue still persists...changing the injectors and rail tomorrow with a spare set....fuel filter looked like it was full of beach sand and water...hopefully injectors tom fixes it...only thing left that we can think of that would cause a sputter

 

Drained gas didn't fix it
Pulled the injectors...all I can say is wow they were caked....swapped in some spares from a friend it drives like a champ now
