Default Major Water Leak

I seem to have developed a major water leak from the water pump area.

It looks like it's coming from between the timing cover and the engine block, right in the water pump area.

If the leak is coming from the water pump itself could it be that large? Prior to this i was having overheating problems that was caused by a bad thermostat. I removed the thermostat to drive the car home and everything was fine except it drained 2 gallons of coolant in about a 25 minute drive. I got all the way up into the top of the gauge but never into the red. Could it be possible that it melted the O-ring between the water pump and engine and it's leaking there?

I'm also having a little problem with the oil pressure. My brother drove the car to work (25 miles) and he said the oil light started flashing about 5 minutes from his destination and he kept driving it. I assume if the engine really had no pressure it would have been toasted but it's fine. On the way home when I was driving it it also started to flash on and off, so I stopped for about 5 minutes and checked the level but it was fine. So i took off again and had no trouble. Is there a common problem with the oil sending unit becoming faulty? The oil and filter are new.

....and we have no idea what year this is, or engine size, besides it is in the 90 to 02 section....

Anyway, if it is coming from the WP, replace it...along with the belts, tensioners, seal, ect and call ot a day.

Then for the oil light, check the connection, replace the switch....see if it is still happens...they do go bad.

Sorry, it's a 1990 Accord DX, 5spd w/AC.

I'm going to take it apart and see what's happening.

Hello.

On my 1990 Accord, it was the Coolant Crossover Pipe. It has a rubber O-Ring at each end.

The part cost $48.00 at my local Honda Dealership.

I had to order it a day early so they could get it delivered from the warehouse.
