Default Turbonetics Turbo Rebuild

I bought have a Turbonetics T3/T4 with a standard shaft. I am planning on rebuilding it with a Garrett t3/t4 rebuild kit. I am rebuilding it my self and i will be getting it balanced by a local turbo shop. I was taking the turbo apart, the compressor wheel on the cold side looked great there was no chips or blemishes on it. When i got to the turbine wheel on the hot side it had a few small chips out the fins. The worst chip out of the fin is about .150" long by .10", and the rest of the fins have a slight bend to them. So my question is Do I need to replace it? If so Can I use a Garrett Turbine Wheel? I have looked at come of the Turboneitcs wheel and they very expensive.

Absolutely it needs to be replaced. Measure the wheel diameter of that turbine wheel, because "standard" sizes have changed with turbonetics. you could have a stage 3 (2.1222" wheel diameter), or a stage 3 (2.559" wheel diameter). Both could be standard. Once you find that out, you can then purchase another wheel/shaft

The size of the turbine wheel is about 2.3". So do I have to buy a turbonetics turbine wheel or can I buy a different brand. I found one that I think is the right size but for that price I could just buy a new turbo. I did find a Garrett turbine that is only 100 it has the same specs at the turbonetics one, will this one work.

Only other to use is a Garrett or turbonetics one. They are about $300+, (still not enough for a new quality turbo, but it puts you in the right boat). Hard to say if it just "fits.". Either way, the turbo would have to be rebalanced with your compressor and cartridge, so it might as well be rebuilt at a proper facility

So I found a Garrett one with almost the same dimensions as the turbonetics one. Do you think this Garrett one will work, it's 200 dollars cheaper then the turbonetics one.

That is totally up to you. I don't mess with turbine wheels from ebay, so you're hit or miss. whichever you decide, you must rebalance the turbine whee/shaft to your compressor wheel. They don't come that way.

This is why you see the Turbine shaft hex Nut "cut" in specific places, so the weight of the rotation coincides with the rest of the cartridge assembly.
