Are aftermarket BOV such as HKS legal in the State of CA? I can't find any CARB labeling on the HKS site nor can i find any info from google or the search feature on here. Everybody keeps on having different answers! I like that PSH sound from my BOV but i don't wanna get a State Ref ticket. Thank you in advance people.

 

They will give you a state ref ticket for anything. Just don't get pulled over. I've personally gotten state ref tickets for carb legal parts. Where do you live if your in SF police don't care as much but in East bay or south bay there more strict.

CA is horrible for modified cars. But we do it anyways.

 

Any engine mods before the catalytic converter requires a CARB approved label. Without it, it's considered illegal.

But remember, it's only illegal if you get caught =P

 

Not legal without CARB EO number on it. Even then, you won't find any instance of venting the BOV to open air to be legal.

 

you guys that mod in cali are a different breed. if i ever lived in that state i'd drive a stock z06 and call it a day. WAY too many issues for modifications

 

its illegal to change your rims in california.

but hey i drive a turbo s2000 and a highly moded evo and i live in los angeles and i never had any problems.

 

california has the prettiest most tucked,used to be fastest import in the country. and you guys did it with these laws. no disresprect but cali have the dumbest fn laws when it comes to cars. especially since thats where all this started.

back to the question hks does not have a carb sticker on there bov. but depending on the one you get. get it in black so it wont be noticable or get a recirculator valve

 

Not just for cars. CA laws are just plain dumb overall.

 

you think the car laws are bad. Our gun laws are even worse. Talk about taking away our 2nd amendment rights.

 

You could try to put a filter on it and get away but I doubt it. Anything that dump unfiltered air into the engine bay or part of the intake is against the law. I was told because if the car back fires its ignite or cause a fire under the hood. This was from a ref. But the eldelbrock kit comes with one? When I brought that up he did not have a clear answer but said that kit was legal. Calie is dumb as hell.
