So no one is going to share the total amount of $ invested into building a b20v from scratch?

buy a set of arp rod bolts and get the stock pistons machined with bigger valve reliefs. rebuild the bottom end with stock parts and throw a b16/b17/b18c1/5 head on it

head 400
block 200 + 400(for rebuild)
arp rod bolts 100
machine work 200
gaskets and timing belt 200

so around 1500 i would think would get a stock reliable b20V

Thats why you buy someone elses unfinished project when ppl run out of $$ now-a-days.
Couple weeks ago sold:
95gsr with b20v built. I know for sure he had s2s2 cams and he claims 11.5:1 pistons. He needed headers, injectors and something elso minor. Do a motor tear down and put everything together so you are sure what you have. Integra pretty clean. Sold for $4600. And thats with the car so thats steal.

Another deal I fricken missed: 98gsr build my midnight. Over 220whp. Posted for $1500. I thought spam but not. Needed bail out $$ fast. I called and it was sold.

That's because you're looking at people who get turbos that are too big for their application, with the belief that they want to grow for more power later.

The average build can range from $3K to as high as $7K depending upon where they get their balancing and machining work done. This may or may not include hard-parts such as cranks, crank pulleys, balancers, tensioners, etc that you may have.

Many people don't find it the most relevant to post the price tag of what they've paid 1) because it reminds them of what other things the money could be spent on other than an engine, and 2) the cost varies so much due to the availability of things that it never remains the same.

But based upon the average, of about $4000-$6000 or so, you're right on target if you're worried about whether or not you've paid enough to get this together.

No not turbos are to big. I know the thing about properly sized turbo and your whp goals. I have so many friends telling me to go boost that its ridiculous. I am a n/a fan. Its easier to slap together a turbo kit and make 300whp. Butt i like the challenger of building my own engine. Even if its worth 6k. Big woop. Experience of a lifetime running 12s with it or possibly dip 11s.
Thanks

Yeah and its someone else's build. not mines. And i see were your going with this butt no. I already have a solid chassis to build of. And tough luck for missing those so called deals out. You have a perfect car to build of from so why even waste your time/money on another car. Built not bought like they say.

4,500 +- and if you want a transmission to match you are looking at another 1500. A matched setup is going to cost you but be fun in the end.

Why waste time/ money? I paid 3.5k and I could add a couple more k and buy a ready to go teggy with new paint job and R front. I will spend way more if I start from my car.

Just look.... your build ~6k + 2.5k(your car) - ~1.4k(if you sell the gsr motor) = ~7k. Now thats without paint and R front.

My time and my money and what fool would sell a perfectly good b18c1 that if putt into a eg hatch will run mid 13s all day long. Any way. Back on topic. Have you built a b20v and how much did it cost you? I do not think so.

I'm building a project b20vtec on my spare time right now.. so far it has cost me about $1300..

B20b short block- Free
JE 12.5 CR pistons
OEM honda bearings and thrust washers
OEM LS rods modified with arp rod bolts
OBD2 gsr oil pump, waterpump, and timing belt
CTR crank pulley
GSR head with CTR cams and supertech valvetrain I had laying around from a parts car
GE 84.5mm headgasket
ARP headstuds
ITR trans

Granted a lot of the parts I already had or got for extremely cheap, most of the money went into just building the short block.

Not bad of a build. What are you expecting the build to run you at the end with at tune.?
Thanks
