EF tire size
I have 17 inch rims on my ef, I need to know what is the best tire size setup to go along with that size rim?
Realistically I want to get smaller rims, these are hideous but have to wait until the money starts coming in again.
Currently I'm running 195/55/17 if I remember correctly. I was told I should run 205/40 to maintain stock ratio. Any truth to this or what do you guys think?
My main question is: what size should I get so they don't rub? As for some reason around my area it's hard to find 195/55s.
I'm also not too picky on brands.

Here's a tire size calculator from miata.net. You type in your tire size as shown, and it gives you things like the OD (overall diameter). Compare this to the stock 185/60-14 with an OD of 22.7in.

There are a ton of other factors like offset, camber, height of your car, tire pull, etc. that will contribute to, or relieve rubbing. But my car had 17s when I bought it (2" lowering springs also), with 205/40-17 and they didn't rub. Of course the ride was terribly harsh, so I bought some OEM 14s and got some Falken Ziex ZE912s for 65 a pop. I'm happier.
