how to install toda b cams
Is it complicated to install toda b spec cams, is it like a normal type r cams??.....what is the 0.20mm cold valves adjstment.
will a acura mechanic know's how to install the cams from the toda spec sheet, found in the box?
thanks

No it is not very complicated to install spec B camshaft. A good mechanic with Honda engine knowledge should be able to do it without problem.
The 0.2mm is the rocker arm to cam lob clearance needed for the spec B to perform correctly, the mechanic would need to readjust all the valves with this spec.

Not the simplest cam to install because you NEED to change the valve springs.
NEED? can you be a little clearer?
NEED? can you be a little clearer?
well if you don't, the timing belt will shatter into approx. 4.5834432496743245 billion pieces, the cams will break into 5 pieces and the pistons will slam through the head, valve cover and hood.

Spect B's need higher pressure valve springs compared to stock ones. This way your valves won't float at high rpm and it is the only way you can make more power at higher rpm as well. That's why the install of B's are a lil more complicated and longer. Also, it is recommended to install a reinforced timing belt for reliability purposes.

Since My head was already refaced so milled a little will he have to put a 0.19mm valve clearence if my head was milles like 0.1mm.
Once the head is pulled are the valvesprings installation hard or long??
they have to install new piston rings anyways, do you think they will mind installing the toda stuff, they have to remove the cams and camgears anyways, and since the head is out the valvesprings install will not take much longer, what do you guys think?? How much does a valve adj cost at acura??
by the way thanks for the previous reply

the hard and long thing, i could comment on, but managed not to.
thanks, if I ask the the acura mecanic to do a 0.2mm valve adj, will he understand??

My STOCK valvesprings and retainers were perfectly happy with the lumpy Toda B joy. As long as you retain the stock rev limiter, and don't beat it on a daily basis, you will be fine with STOCK Type R valvetrain.
Now, B16 or GS-R valvetrain should definitely be upgraded. But Type R valvetrain will hold B's just fine.

I beat on mine daily.
Ran just peachy. Stock valvetrain, stock ECU, stock timing belt.
ok, thank you very much trooth
I will most likely not changed my piston now, I dont have enough cash right now, I also have to get the hondata s200 in the first week of install, piston might come later.
My CR is raised a little since my head was refaced. How his he(the mechanic) supposed to calculate if my head milled will not affect the clerance of the cams??
ok, thanks, I will ask for either a valve adj or lach of 0.2mm
as for the valve springs installation, I believe a acura dealer know how to install valvesprings without bending the valves
Why do they need to install new piston rings? If you have to have the block pulled, you mind as well have new pistons put in to raise the compression. You will see more gains with the Spec B's on a higher compression ratio then you will on the stock. People seem to prefer 11.5:1 to 12:1, whereas the stock compression is 10.6:1.
because my car is burning oil like a ****
Im presently dooing an oil test and in 1600km(approx 1000miles) they had to add 1 liter the first time and 1-2/3 liter the second time, its almost 2 liter oil burned oil in 1000miles+ its my mom who drive the R during the week since I take the bus for university.... my mom is 51yo and she do not hit vtec, therefore my car is burning oil even under easy everyday driving

INCORRECT, too y0

I kept out of the limiter just for extra safety. Stock ECU, stock valvetrain, stock timing belt, stock cat-back. Power dropped off after 8200 anyway
make sure and torque down well...to todas specs(call them and ask them what they should be) and make sure you get there special cam gear bolt..
mine broke after less than 20 seconds of idling..
i was using the springs, belt and toda cam gears..
they say its an installation error..but i believe they are just back peddaling

"Special" bolt = longer cam gear bolt because the Toda gear has a thicker-than-stock center section. Just to avoid confusion.
Dunno... getting them installed this weekend
Yack tuned.. i hope...
And I did go for the springs and the pe belt... only think i can not afford at this time is the aem ems
Oh well x-mas is coming up, now i just need to find a rich gf
