brake line rusting
hello i recently i was driving and my ebrake and abs lights came on thought it might just be low on fluid put some brake fluid in drove down the road a bit and it came on a few min later i brought it to a garage and they put it on a lift and let me look at it
now the brake lines and fuel lines look pretty bad rusted out and the brake line from the driver side rear must of popd off or something cant tell its up behind the gas tank brought it to a few garages
the first (NTB) said they could do the brake lines but couldnt do fuel lines cause of insurance blah blah so they said 500-600
brought it to towing/mechanic shop said that it would be 6 hours @75 an hour to do both the brake lines and fuel lines but they are saying they want to replace with oem honda lines which are like 600$ for all of the fuel lines and brake lines running to the back
i wanted to know if there is anywhere that sells "pre-bent" lines and also if the costs of replacing these are accurate or am i getting screwed ?
also if its the lines that run down the driver side of the car where the fuel and brake lines are all next together that are rusted out do i need to replace everything or just that part and if i only replace a part of the line is it less reliable ?
hopefully someone on heres been threw this same thing and knows what im talking about
and if anyone lives in the Souther New Hampshire region and knows a mechanic or is one themselves pm me i neeeed someone that knows wtf there talking about and isnt gonna try to screw me over

I'm guessing that the only place you'll find pre-bent lines is from the dealer. So the cheapest way is to order through an online dealer like HAP (HondaAutomotiveParts.com).
For the 2 brake lines that run front-to-back, you're looking at about $90 each from HAP. And for the 3 fuel lines that run front-to-back, you're looking at about $85, $80 and $65. So you'll be looking at about $410 plus shipping, a nice savings.
Looking at the list price on HAP shows those lines to come out to around $580, so if the shop told you $600 for parts from a local dealer then that sounds about right. Ask them if you can buy the parts and if they will just charge you the $75 x 6 hours for installation. Some shops do it while others don't.

Those things are a nightmare to bend properly. Regardless, when you have the lines replaced definately coat them in some thick grease. I've found white lithium grease works well. Sets up thick and sticks like a motha. After a winter on salted roads no sign of corrosion here.
Have you called the dealer to see if these lines are even available? I change brake lines on Nissan trucks all the time and the dealer doesn't have crap for em, so I just buy 10 ft. sections of hardline, make my own bends, cut to fit, flare the ends, and that's it.
It really isn't that difficult of a task if you can raise the car up high enough.
