Default My old GSR build 197whp/137tq

Hey guys,

a good friend of mine on here Tonio has a sick build and thread that makes me wish I could build another motor but since I financialy can't right now I'll do the next best thing...post up my old one!!

first off thanks to b16sir2000 and Tonio for helping me put it together!

Block:
B18C1 bored to 81.50mm
Type-R crank
Eagle H-Beam Rods
Weisco 11.8:1 pistons
Golden Eagle Block Guard
Unorthodox crank pully
ARP Head Studs
BuddyClub 81.50mm headgasket
Moroso 5 quart oil pan

Head:
P72 re-surfaced with slight 3 angle valve job to clean it up
Skunk2 valve train- flat top valves, springs and retainers
Skunk2 cam gears
Skunk2 Pro-2 cams
Skunk2 Pro-series IM
Blox 68mm TB
Rc 440 injectors
Custom 3" Cold Air intake
SSR header

Car was Tuned at Synapes Motorsports in Albany NY on Sep 14th 2009 with a B16 non-LSD tranny and BuddyClub Spec2 exhaust and made 197whp and 137tq.

after that winter i had a custom 2.5" exhaust to a twin loop muffler put on along with a 4.75 type-r tranny but saddly never got a re-tune nor made it to the track

with all that said I miss the car and the motor but had to sell due to "growing up and moving out"......but I'll be back!!

no pics with the 3" cold air camera crapped out....ENJOY!

Too bad you never got track times/traps. Seems like it still had more potential for what you had in it. Maybe overcammed a lil bit?
I have a very similar build I'll be putting pro 1's in soon shooting for the all mighty 200whp mark open header.

Yeah man I wish I did! Just bad timing some times. I think it was over cammed also but not terribly bad. Good luck with yours!

Seems like the motor made peak torque prior to the vtec cam and then made less torque? and reason for this?

What seems hard to believe is that a guy said his JDM GSR with a Type R intake, 68mm throttle body, 2.5" exhaust, and Skunk 2 Tuner 2 made 199.4. I tend to think the dyno read high based on what this build put down or does that seem right?

You should easily make power with Pro1's. I have a similiar setup with a stock TB making 215whp.

From what the OP stated, he is running the Pro series cams, not the Tuners...

I'd have to say that sounds a little high for a stock bottom end...

I dont think it sounds unbelievable. Years ago, I made 197 on a stock JDM ITR bottom end.

+1 these numbers seem about right, I made 209 WHP on a stock ITR bottom end on 93 octane pump with a stock ITR header and went 12.3@108 in my CRX 2100 lb with driver
