Default What is the difference in a GSR and LS cat-back?

I have an LS, but I am about to buy an exhaust. I am also going to be swapping out my motor for a GSR so I want to make sure the exhaust will still work. I think it is the same up until the cat and then the GSR and LS headers are different. So would I need to buy a GSR cat when I do my swap?

The LS has a longer exhaust manifold (A pipe actually) than the 94-99 GSR. The 00-01 GSR's manifold is the same length. The cats on both models for all years are the same length.

If you get a 00+ GSR motor, it should bolt up. Otherwise you could buy an aftermarket header for an LS, and it will even out. Or just wait and buy a GSR exhaust.

Although you would probably be better off just turboing your LS motor, unless you are planning on going NA. For the cost of a GSR motor you could have a nice turbo setup.
