Your best bet since you will be running 2 12's is to get component speakers, they will definitely help with the mids and the tweeters will take care of the highs. With this setup you will have a pretty good balance. Whenever adding two big subs to you car, tweeters are a MUST. MB Quart carries excellent components and are not too pricey, Fosgates also sound pretty nice and MTX.

Two things....

First, define "not tooo outrageous". 200, 300, 500, 1000? Everyone has a different concept of what speakers are worth to them

Second, no one can tell you what you like...you should go to your local shops with one of your cds in hand...tell them to turn all the EQ, bass boost, etc to flat....then listen. Everyone has different opininos on what sounds good.

For example, I would NEVER recommend anything made by the manufacturers in the above post. The only think I would think about is the MBQ Q or QSD's, but they msrp for 750+...neither of us are wrong, it's just that car audio is quite subjective and everyone will have a difference of opinion.

Now if you think that a set of speakers off a head will keep up with a pair of good 12's, then I think you are going to be sorely disappointed. I like the above suggestion, get an amp and a pair of components....I just prefer different brands....clear up your total budget for the rest of your system, and we can better help you out.

yea depends how much watts your subs are getting. remember for a clean system, you should put half the power of your subs to your mids and highs. for ex. 1000 watts to your subs you should put 500 watts to your mids and highs.

I definitely agree but with you, yes they are alot of brands that are alot better than what I stated above, but from his post is doesn't sound like he will be will to spend $750 on a set of components. I don't think he has a competition soundsystem in mind, he just wants good quality sound for the buck. And like you said in my opinion, the lower model MB Quarts, Fosgate and MTX are all good sounding systems esp. for the price. Best bang for the buck. Good decent sound while still being able to afford to put gas in your car.

I just wanted to clear up the fact that his budget was vaguely expressed. Not too expensive in my book for a set of components is between 350 and 500. I'm not trying to sound like a ***** or a big baller....I'm neither...just trying to place a number on his phrase. I'm just willing to pay more, and I feel car audio is worth more to me. It's a personal thing...actually it's a sickness that is emptying my bank account!!!!

I also was trying to let people know that while we can suggest components to him, he should really go listen and audition them...you like those brands, I don't...perfect case in point. I wasn't disagreeing with you in anyway

If it was my $$$, I would look at DEI, Infinity Reference or Kappas, Crystal, and some of the CDT Classics. There are a lot of good specials going on right now at thezeb.com - They are blowing out their USAcoustics amps. They are good quality, and certainly fall under the "bang-for-the-buck" along with the CDT's. If you like your factory head, you could always get a high low converter and go from there.
