the red wire connected to the plug from the fog light ripped in that very spot. if i cut the black one and connect the wires to "spade" plugs i believe, will i be able to fit them in the plug connected to the wiring harness? given that they are the proper size to fit in there. will this work and be safe? i dont really want to cut the plug to the wiring harness id rather buy a new fog light if necessary.

any suggestions on how to fix this problem or will what im thinking about doing work? hope i explained right.

Okay...let me figure this out. You're saying the red switched wire is cut and you want to splice it so you can connect the wire to the factory plug coming from the fog light switch located near the windshield washer reservoir? That's fine. I did the same thing to my DEPO foglights because the previous owner already cut that factory plug. Make sure you bolt the ground (fog light wiring harness) to a good spot or else....you will blow fuses left and right inside the fusebox under the hood.
