If they don't check your vin#, take off your plates and slap them on a friend's car that looks like yours and has a stock engine... Good luck...

I passed fine with a stock 1st Gen B16A. At the time, all I have was a Thermal cat-back and a K&N cone on the throttle body.

I did have to replace the cat though, my stock one had over 160k on it, it was toast. After i replaced that, I passed with flying colors.

I say don't over-prepare yourself though. Go take the test as is and go from there, you may suprise yourself, and save yourself some time and trouble.

I don't know about you, but I would rather not risk getting arrested or fined big time in order to get my car to pass emissions.

I'm having the same trouble right now. I changed the plugs, wires, cap and rotor, ran fuel injection cleaner and had a new cat put on and it still doesn't pass--but it's really close. I've narrowed it down to either the PCV valve, dirty TB or intake manifold or the O2 sensors. Once I get those things taken care of, I'm pretty positive it will pass.
