ef hatch ignition fried on the fwy
Was on my way to tj an hr ago and noticed a weird smell so I popped my hood and my optima bursted there was acid everywhere. So it still drove it got me autozone I bought a new battery hooked it up got back on the fwy and noticed my radio went off then smoke came from the steering collom by the key and the car shut off. Now I went to pop my hood again and noticed that one of the wires on the positive terminal was off it was the wire that runs to the fuse box so I went to plug it back to the positive treminal and went to crank it and it got stuck on the 2nd turn of the key. Would the loose wire cause my car to fry my ignitio system or is it something else??? It was fine I drive out everywhere and now that I wanted to make a trip it fried up.
You got a short of near biblical proportions. Check your loom underneath the dash for ANY melted wires and connectors. Then work your way out from there. Hope you have access to another ride for the next couple days..
Yea ill do that today. Its a trip when I got home the optima battery was still hot after an hr. I still have a hard time wondering what went wrong to cause my hatch to burn up my ignition switch.
