84mm with stock GSR rods
you can have the small ends of the stock b18c rods bushed (opened) to use a fully-floating wrist-pin, or you may just be able to have the pins pressed into the rods so they only 'float' in the pistons (like stock, though i'd not advise it- i don't know if you'd use a stock pin or those supplied by Endyn), but by the time you pay for the machine work (press in pins, or bush pin-holes), and get ARP rod-bolts (which you should if you plan to hit 200+ whp or rev past 8400rpm), it'd be foolish not to buy Eagles for ~$350, which include ARP bolts, will accomodate a fully-floating pin. if you insist upon stock rods, if they are not new, you may want to have them shot-peened again (as Honda does at the factory) to increase tensile strength, though this is yet more $ for a service unnecessary if you get the Eagles (or Crowers, Cunninghams, etc., but these are $$). Still, stock rods will never be as strong/reliable as Eagles, etc., and pushing ~225whp, your tuning will be critical (as with any setup); advance ignition too far or run too lean and detonate, and the stock rods will not be as forgiving. i've seen a few bend (even break) even in NA setups with less power.

I've been making 200-220whp on various motors with stock rods for years now.
vtec(ie b18c1/5) rod bolts are plenty strong.
While it is true that stock wont ever be as strong as eagle, they dont have to be.
I'd like to know what causes a rod to spontaneously bend......

stockers will not spontaneously bend; they bend easier than stronger rods (Eagles, etc.) under detonation from poor tuning; running too lean or with ignition advanced too far.
