Default 3rd Gen Prelude balljoints

Hi again !! Been a few years since I was here last but still have my 1990 3rd Gen 4WS Si. As it happens I seem to have an unusual one in that the engine is a 2ltr (B20A) rather than the normal 2.1 normally associated with these cars.

It's been an eventful life with my car. A year ago she snapped a Timing Belt at 70mph. Replaced the belt with fingers crossed - what had I got to lose ? What do you know she survived and is still going strong !

The years haven't been kind to it though, 3 attempted thefts left the drivers door in a bad way, aircon compressor gave up, distributer went faulty (error code 14 I think) and all the balljoints were worn out from the poor roads we have here. Speed sensor died too but I managed to buy a replacement unit on eBay so my cruise control now works again !

Anyway I bought a crashed 89 model last year and have managed to get all the parts I needed to replace the door and the aircon among other things and now have a whole collection of spares - including engine !

In the past few months I've managed to replace the front upper ball joints, trackrod ends, stabiliser bars and CV joints. Amazing the difference this has made to the handling !

Unfortunately I've been unable to source the rear upper balljoints anywhere locally. Many US sites have them but will not post them to Ireland. A few sites only list the Drivers side part (remember I have a RHD model). If I order 2 of these is it ok to simply turn them over and pass the bolts through the top of the mounting rather than the bottom as is required ? Does anyone know of a European company that sell these online ? Maybe an American company that stocks both left and right joints and can post internationally ?

Alternatively is there any other model of Honda or other make/model that uses the same balljoint that might be easier to source ?

I appreciate all the help I've had from the many excellent Prelude sites on the web and am happy to share my experiences and knowledge with fellow Prelude 3rd gen owners.

Thanks in advance and apologies for the long post

Ken

I believe honda sells the complete upper control arm w/balljoint in it. Little pricey but might have to do as a last resort. These are starting to dry up real quick.

I wouldn't recommend flipping them over. It wasn't designed for that and if it fails your screwed
