Default jdm vs usdm intake noise

for some reason i have always noticed that jdm h22's make a different noise at the vtec crosover than the usdm ones.in my opinion they sound higher piched like a b series motor. i might be talking out my ***, but having just watched cannabis' vid i noticed it again. can anyone confirm or deny this?thanx i might just be drunk or something...

thats exactly what i was just thinking but would the compression actually make a difference in noise besides exhaust noise?
