1997 Honda Accord A/C
A/C in my car blows hot air while car is sitting still, works alright while car is in motion. Recently had a vaccum pulled on it and refilled. Works better than before but still is not working properly. Have had a few shops look at it and no one can seem to diagnose the problem. One shop replaced the fan and relay. Another shop said it was the expansion valve and wanted $500 to fix. Don't want to put that much money with no guarantee of it fixing the problem.
You need to get an a/c manifold gauge set and check the system pressure.
Also keep in mind, that the a/c isn't going to be as cold at idle. The compressor is driven off the engine, faster the engine runs the better the compressor works. It isn't designed to operate at peak capacity while the car is at idle in the first place.
