Clifford or Viper is the same stuff both from the same company Directed either one is good... I had a viper before and a Clifford in the past and I decided on the Clifford for the EP3. Didn't make a mistake on this one...

I would look at the smart start if you have a smart phone that is the way I will be going this summer when I change it. My buddy is a pro installer for Directed so I get the new stuff to try always and at a fraction of the cost... Smart Start is just awesome

One thing to keep in mind is that having a remote start will make your car less secure. As it is allowing to bypass the immobilizer to start the car. This make the car less secure and I opted out of it because of the fact that after a certain distance you will not get a page or info on what is going on with you car.

This is why the Smart Start is the way to go so you can have a starter and not worry as you know what is going on at all times!

what's the difference between "remote start" and "smart start"?

you make them sound like 2 different things but really it just looks like a iphone/blackberry/android interface that unlocks and starts your car...

how is that different from having a seperate remote that does that?

It's same thing only that you can start your car from your phone. I was looking into that It's like almost 400 for that feature. too much money not thing that.

Also distance is not an issue anymore!

You can know what's up with your car from China... My buddy started his car from my house and he lives 20 miles away from me. He has his wife open the doors to trigger the alarm and he got an instant update.

No more having the issue for the 2000 feet and no signal...

so if someone broke into your car and you were like...at your friends house 6 miles down the road...

you'd be able to find out on your phone?

that sounds nice...i might actually consider upgrading if thats the case
