Default Oil Pressure light

I know I post a lot about this car, and I know I notice to many things wrong but this is my first car and I don't want to be left without a car. MY 1991 Honda Accord's oil pressure light stays on for about 1 to 3 seconds after initial startup. Could the oil be to thick or is it something more serious. It is due for an oil change.

Could be but over the net, hard to say. If it is due, change it with the proper weight. Then be sure to check the level on a reg basis....I admit I have OCD on this, so I check the oil in all of mine at least every three weeks.

Thanks for your reply i'll change it at school next week or something. Somthing else that I just remembered is when it first starts the oil light flashes on and off a couple times. Could it be OIL PRESSURE SENSOR?

Oil pressure sensors do go bad eventually. They are actually subjected to fairly harsh conditions. They are inexpensive and are located just above the oil filter which makes them easy to replace. Use OEM parts. Less than 20 bucks.

x2. I had to replace the oil pressure switch on my '90 shortly after I bought it. I think the part was less than ten bucks, and it's a pretty easy fix. Drain the oil, take off the filter, and it's right there.

Here's a pic. Sorry about the dust.
