Hi Guys,
I have a 1990 Red Civic SI Hatch that I purchased in 1998 with 60,000 miles. It now has around 170,000 miles and even though I also drive my friends VW Golf on occasion I really, really love my EF! I use to own an EG but I find this to be my favorite car of all time that I have driven. I am in NYC and so I need a smaller car for parking reasons.
My car now is starting to rust a bit and little by little its falling apart. The AC doesn't work, the drivers door is starting to sag a bit, the motor burns oil..but yet it still drives with oomph and is still a great little car. I keep wanting to sell it every time something breaks or leaks (yes it leaks now on the drivers side door footwell) but then I drive it and I forget about selling it.
But I think the time has come. One thing I like the most about the EF is the drivers view of the road. The low hoodline makes me feel like I can see so much more of the road than the other cars I have driven.
Does anyone here know of another compact car that has this type of drivers view? I have been thinking about the Mini Cooper as the modern evolution of the EF but I haven't driven one yet.
What is the modern evolution of the EF Civic si? Is there one? Please any suggestions for cars that you think I should look at would be great.

 

Just spend the money,fix her up and keep her for another 15 yrs instead of getting a new car.

Well, i was in your situation, and i kept my car (89 crx), but picked up a couple of other very fun, but very different cars....00 EM1 Civic and an 02 RSX

 

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm leaning towards another Hatchback style car.
What year RSX?
I would love to keep the 90 Si but I don't think my sanity can handle moving 2 cars every few days from one side of the street to another! (NYC alternate side street parking...sucks..)

Same here!! I miss the Honda's now and again but I don't think I could ever put money into one again.
