Junkyard 5 speed
Looking for a new 5 speed for the new engine. Other than paying $400 plus shippin fees... im debating just paying the $125 for a junkyard tranny. My junkyard has pretty good inventory and they are constantly putting in more cars. Is there anything i should look for when picking a 5 speed junker tranny? Or is this even a good idea?
Also, im a tad confused about the swap, do i put the tranny in neutral, then pull it from the yard, then shift my car in neutral and install the tranny and hook up the cables?
Im just not %100 how you make sure you orient the new tranny your putting in to match where your shifter is currently at. My car is already a 5 speed so this is not a conversion.
This is my first real swap and just trying to hammer out these little things in my head before D-day comes. Nothing is currently wrong with my current 5 speed except for maybe once a month 3rd gear grind. It works just great but new motor is built for turbo.
