'98 Accord stalling/no start problem
Hello,
I have a '98 Accord LX with 236,000 miles. I am the original owner. The past few days, it's had a little starting issue, where I would start it, and it would immediately stall, almost like it just didn't catch. Even though it's never happened prior, I dismissed it as it just being an old, high mileage car. Tonight, it stalled twice while I was driving it. one of the times, it wouldn't restart for a few minutes, and the other time, I got it to restart while still coasting to a stop, but still nerve-wracking, especially since i had my 4 month old daughter in the car with me. I went to Walmart, and when I came out, I had to try 4 times to get it to start. Now it's gone from a slight annoyance to something definitely being wrong.
It cranks strongly, so I don't think it's a battery issue. The little flashing green security key light comes on when it stalls. Since it's never stalled before, i don't know if it's related to that, or if that light would always come on in a stalling situation.
I put new plugs and wires on it about a month ago, as well as air filter.
Any ideas?

When it stalls, do you lose all the dash lights, radio turns off, etc? A faulty ignition can cause a sudden stall. There was an ignition recall that covered 1997-1999 Accords; do you know if your Accord was included and/or was fixed?
It's weird. The dash lights are all off, but they'll come back on. The radio stayed on, though. I never heard anything about a recall, but I never had a recall fixed on it, either. I'm not sure how to check if there's a recall on it, other than taking it to a Honda dealer.
I just searched for the recall, and then did a free carfax recall check, and my car is included in the recall. I don't remember ever getting a letter on it, but the VIN matched, so hopefully that will be it.
You can create an account with Honda, enter your VIN, and it (should) tell you what recalls are available and which ones have been completed on your car.

As an update, that's what turned out to be the problem. However, a week later, the starter went out on it, so I had to buy a new one. (Well, reman)
