Default Can you use your stock wiring for certain aftermarket gauges?

I'm going to be building a custom gauge cluster setup later this year, and I'll be using an aftermarket gauge setup, probably Prosport or someone, and I just had a few questions if I may.

I'll be replacing my stock cluster with an aftermarket speedometer, tachometer, fuel level, and water temp gauges. Single LED's for blinkers, high beam, etc. I won't bother using some of the idiot lights in the gauge cluster that aren't important, like doors, etc, but all the important ones will stay.

I know that normally you wire in aftermarket gauges with their own respective sensors, however, would they run off of the cars factory gauge cluster wiring? After all, each sensor wire goes there anyway, so I'll just have to track down and label each one, and use it with the aftermarket gauge.

I know I'll have to convert to a VSS for the speedo, that's not a big deal. I just wondered if the stock sensors and wiring would be compatible with aftermarket gauges?

Thanks

I know from reading many posts that the fuel gauge aint gonna happen. I'm guessing that would be true for most of the gauges there.

Well, as long as the gauge has an Ohm scale that's broader than the stock sending units ohmage at all given levels, you're good to go. If I remember correctly, the Autometer Cobalt and C2 gauge will work perfectly with the stock sending unit, because it has a broad Ohm range. Oh, and the Nexus line as well.

Speedometer will be custom wired in as I'll have to be converting to a VSS from my cable driven speedo anyway. Tach wiring is all the same, and as long as the water temp gauge can function on whatever ohms the stock sensor puts out, it can as well.

But all the gauges come with their own sending units/senors regardless, so even if I can't tie into the factory wiring, it's not that big of a deal, just more work.

Well nevermind, guess I'll just tackle this on my own. Unless someone that actually has done something like this can chime in...
