wiring issue or other?!?!?!?!? confused
so i have a 91 civic dx hatch, i bought it from a guy who did an mpfi swap with a zc block hf head.... yeah idk. car wouldnt start, friend came by said its the distributor but a brand new distributor (+200.00) still no spark.... no check engine lights the engine harness is an si harness, their is fuel. any idea's? also my buddy told me to find ALL the pinouts for the car... engine harness, ecu, underdash etc.... he said they probably switched the whole interior harness to si and messed it up... this is costing me way more then the car's really worth hoping its just an easy fix. any input would be helpful or ideas. just want it running already!

If the CEL does not light up before starting your problem is the communication between engine and ECU. Start at the repin of the ecu.

it lights up when i first turn the key, but then it turns off. and it turns over but wont start.

I think the key to this is:
"this is costing me way more then the car's really worth hoping its just an easy fix."
Motor swaps and fuel control mods are not simple (liars, prefab harness buyers, and pros will tell you they are), but I know, I almost committed suicide (jk) trying to repin for my mpfi/odb1 conversion. Get a test light, start at the distributor and work backwards until you find power or the opposite chasing to the end of the power. You could, code scan (search archive for procedure) you may have a broken ecu.
The scariest part of this whole thing is that the previous owner sold it half done. This alerts me that he may have ran into a problem or f*ck up he/she couldn't fix.

its perfectly fine.
it only flashes once when you turn the key other then that it doesnt flash.
are you suure...im just sayin cuz it could be lookin ok but just try and give it a tug and be sure...other than that maybe its the pining or like the other guy said bad ecu
positive its fine, ecu is fine tried it in my buddies crx. and like i said i have 4-5 of them. not trying to sound like an ******* im just frustrated with the situation.
So you have a DX car with an Si engine harness? That could be your problem. I've always heard to modify the harness that came on the car to work with your engine swap. I think the Si harness will plug up fine, but the pinouts are different.
me: did you do the wiring on it?
him: "just the back half to convert it to si from the dash back"
me: did it run when you swapped it?
him: "yeah it ran"
me: did you use civic si or crx si harness?
him: "everything is si hatchback . it ran after i charged the battery and would bog out with it floored. when it wasnt floored it ran fine"
it does look like the underdash harness was swapped out also.
just throwing it out their but check your fuses and if their good i would say main relay when mine started going the only way i would get spark was with jump start
you really should ditch that head, you're running a full set up for a 16 valve head and you have an 8 valve head on the car, that's where the bogging is coming from. as far as the no spark, check the under dash fuses, i believe it's fuse 14? to make sure its not blown that's a hazard fuse, my friends std that i mpfi swapped quit running because that fuse blew out and wouldn't send power to anything.
