I'd imagine they would be ok. Not that populat over here in the UK we normally use concrete sectional.

Remember though, the base might cost you more than actual building.

Steel buildings aren't that expensive, but like the guy above said the concrete base is what costs a lot. If you are okay with gravel, you could always dig a hole under each post, run some long threaded rod in to the hole and fill it with quikrete. When the quikrete dries the threaded rod with a washer and nut on top will hold the garage down. Lay down some weed barrier and pea gravel for the floor and you should be good to go.

I don't know about having gravel on the floor??? That does not sound very safe if you have to jack up a vehicle. I would not wanna be underneath it....

Find a friend that knows a little bit about concrete to give you some advise.

Look around for a steel building. I know here in canada Home depot and Lowes and Homehardware have garage kits.

Ill find the link i think its garage plans .com or something that have complete blue prints for garages and there is over 60 plus designs to chose from. There cheap $100-200 bucks and it list everything from the nails to the shingles to the TEE.

Also comes with blue prints of the cement pad.

Cement is not that exspensive. Its the Prep time that exspensive or time involved.

Honestly find a plan you like go to your city hall ask for a permit $100-200 bucks then start digging with a shovel and some buddies. Monolythic cement pad only has to be dug down 12" then crushed stone and compact it down and what not.

Or if thats not in your budget at the momment.

Find a plan of what you would like. Do the pad and toss on there a car shelter on the pad for the time being. You could have a nice work place for under $2,000 bucks.
