Default Help me out with my B16 build

Hey,

im starting to build a b16a2
My goal is about 180-190 whp
would be great if someone can have a look at the part list and
tell me if this works or other things would be better.
and please dont tell me to go b18 or b20 because i'll race the N/A 1600 class

here are my ideas:

Bottom End:

Honed to 81,5mm with Wiseco 11,5:1 CR Pistons,
Eagle H Rods and ACL Bearings.

Top End:
Skunk 2 Pro Stage 1 Cam / Pro Series Cam Gears /
Valve Springs and Retainers.
3 Angle Valve Job, some PnP Headwork.
ARP Headstuds necessary ? what about the headgasket ? Spoon Good ?

what about the intake mani ? Skunk 2 Pro or Edelbrock Victor X ?
Throttlebody 68mm ?
Header ? Toda , Hytech, ... ?

Injector Precision 310cc

it would be nice if you would help me out with my setup
as i like to order the parts next week so i can start with my build.

right now it sits on its stand

I would use ARP headstuds since you can reuse them; stock ones you cannot.

I would just use an OEM head gasket.

If you want a b16a that's actually fun to drive then I would just keep it simple.

Ported stock IM
64mm or smaller tb
BC3+ or Pro 1 cams
Matching valvetrain
Stock bottom end w/ Shaved head 0.030-0.040" or stock rods w/ ctr pistons
Toda or spoolin toda rep header
2.5" exhaust

That should get you 175-185whp and will be "torquey" for a b16, ie. fun

If your looking for bigger numbers and much less power under the curve...

Change to an ITR intake, larger tb and skunk tuner 2's or similar. that should get you another 5-10peakhp.

I also wouldn't bother with the eagle rods or forged pistons. Stock parts are more than capable.

thanks for the 1st inputs
but i dont know if the ctr pistons are the right choice, because aren't they "too" close to the valves ?.
and how about the valves ? stock are fine or should i go skunk2 flat valves ? for that little extra.

No the ctr's will work fine. They have enough clearance for most cams but I would check it just to be safe. Stock valves are fine also if they don't have 200k miles on them.

You can get the RS machine CTR's for $200.

http://compare.ebay.com/like/1506075...=sbar&_lwgsi=y

190whp depends on other supporting mods as well.

Dont bother w/ victor x intake mani on a n/a b16. If you dont do a lil work to your stock one and must get an aftermarket intake mani...skunk 2 pro series or edelbrock performer x is all you should consider

fjdistributors has CTR pistons with rings and wrist pins for 189.99 i think...
thats where i got mine.
I'm hopefully gonna be between 190-200whp when i'm done..
Bottom End:81mm CTR's in a resleeved block on new Pr3 rods (b16a oem), a oem crank.
Top End: Port and Polish (contacting KMS about it), full supertech valvetrain with flat valves, and skunk2 stage 2 tuner series cams, and the RMF narrow header, a skunk2 intake mani, ITR throttlebody (62mm), and PW:JDM whale ***** intake.
tuned on hondata.
Also planning on running a thinner headgasket if that is what it takes to reach my whp goals.
as far as fuel system, i think the 310's might be running the injector duty cycle kind of high...i went with deatschwerks 420's (future proofing) and the matching 300lp/h fuel pump along with an AEM FPR.

I know you didnt ask, but i thought that by sharing my build it might give you a little bit of insight

Good luck with your b16a build buddy!

thanks for the input guys.

i orderd a set of 81.5mm RS Machine CTR pistons for 200$ on wednesday.
so they shoul be over here in Austria next week.

the right piston to wall clearance should be 0.0018 inch right ?
i've red that somewhere on HT.

does anybody have a good adress for hondata S300 ? Xenocron or where to look ?

I used CTR pistons on my last build with skunk2 stg 1's put out good nummbers with just a Vafc. I think you can reach your goal with that part list. I never had any problems with the CTR pistons.
