I got a SOHC ZC motor to replace the old motor in my 91 civic. However, I noticed there's a hole for a dowel pin (but there was no dowel pin in it) in the end of the crankshaft that bolts to the flywheel. Is there supposed to be a dowel pin there? And, if so, the corresponding hole in the Exedy flywheel I got is smaller? I tried searching online but I can't seem to find anything conclusive as to whether a pin is needed or not with a manual transmission.

That's what I was hoping to hear. Anyone else recall a dowel pin or not??

 

Another question...if there is no dowel pin does it matter if I align the hole in the flywheel with the crankshaft hole?

 

theres no dowel pin at least ive never seen one in any of the ones ive done. and i dont think it matters but i line it up like that
