Default auto tensioner oil or brake fluid? HELP

ok i spilled liquid out of my auto tensioner and ive found mixed answers that some people say replace with brake fluid and some say oil. so which is it?

Oil, brake fluid is NOT oil, it actually traps moisture to keep things like air out of the braking system, the tensioner can rust from the inside out if you use brake fluid. It's not a lubricant, it's a glycol ether.

Capacity for the tensioner is 8ml.(1/4fl. oz.)
